Overview
The Reelfoot Lake Environmental Field Station is located in the town of Samburg, Tennessee along Reelfoot Lake. This is a shallow lake with many different aquatic habitats, and it is adjacent to upland bluffs along the edge of the Mississippi River alluvial plain. Reelfoot Lake itself was formed from major landform changes that occurred during the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811–1812.
Reelfoot Lake Environmental Field Station has two laboratories, accommodations for 22 people, as well as field and laboratory equipment. It offers summer college courses and various workshops for professionals and K–12 students.
